Job summary

Capita invites applications for a full-time role at HMS Selborne, Gosport, to mentoring and delivering training for Royal Navy engineers. The post is term-time based, 37.5 hours weekly, with security clearance at SC level required.

You will teach pipefitting from drawings, brazing techniques, and support learner development within the Marine Engineering Electrical training area. The ideal candidate holds a Level 3 Engineering qualification with strong IT skills and practical

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 Technical Certificate in an Engineering discipline.
• Proficient IT (hardware/software) within the workplace.
• Competent practical Coppersmith/Pipefitter hand skills.
• Proven experience in workshop/industry principles.
• Level 4 Teaching Qualification / DCTS Defence Train The Trainer Course or equivalent (desirable).
• Previous instructional experience in a military or civilian engineering environment (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Provide training on how to fit pipework on ships from a drawing (Fit from design)
• Teaching Brazing techniques
• Maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleagues within the Marine Engineering Electrical training area.
• Support trainee development through assessment, feedback, and personalised learning approaches.
• Maintain and update training materials, and contribute to modernising and improving training delivery.
• Ensure compliance with KPIs, SLAs, and safety standards, while maintaining a CPD portfolio.
