Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join the Shiplift Facility at HMNB Clyde Faslane. This hands‑on role keeps naval assets mission ready through mechanical maintenance, inspections and repairs within a safety‑driven environment.

You will perform planned maintenance and fault finding, reading technical drawings, and contributing to system improvements. The position is full time on site with a strong security‑clearance requirement and generous benefits.

Qualifications

• Background in marine or industrial engineering with mechanical maintenance experience.
• Able to read technical drawings and solve problems with precision and attention to detail.
• Experience with fault finding and delivering work to strict standards.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventive maintenance and nuclear‑implicated tasks.
• Mechanical fitting, inspections and repairs on Shiplift systems and equipment.
• Identify and resolve defects to maintain performance and availability.
• Suggest improvements to systems and processes to boost productivity.
• Work safely within health and safety legislation and company policies.
