Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to maintain and repair mechanical systems at RNAD Coulport, Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute. You will work within the Estates Management team to keep critical defence infrastructure safe, reliable and operational, with opportunities to contribute to improvement initiatives and develop your skills in a world-leading defence, aerospace and engineering organisation.

The role is full-time, 36 hours per week, on-site at Coulport, and requires the ability to obtain

Qualifications

• Proven experience with mechanical systems in industrial/maintenance environments.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and maintenance documentation.
• Experience in fault finding, defect diagnosis and repair of mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of risk assessments, COSHH requirements and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs on mechanical systems and equipment.
• Diagnose faults, identify defects and implement effective engineering solutions.
• Maintain critical infrastructure in line with technical standards and safety procedures.
• Support continuous improvement activities to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
• Assist with team activities and provide guidance to apprentices where appropriate.
