Job summary

Babcock International Group in Helensburgh is hiring a Mechanical Fitter at HMNB Clyde Faslane. You’ll be at the heart of our Marine Engineering team, maintaining and supporting critical systems that keep the Royal Navy operational.

This full‑time role (36 hours, Mon–Thu) requires a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent, reads drawings, and carries SC security clearance. You’ll work safely, inspect, repair and improve marine systems while developing your expertise.

Qualifications

• Background in marine or industrial engineering with mechanical maintenance experience.
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings and solve problems independently.
• Strong attention to detail and fault-finding skills.
• Familiar with maintenance procedures, COSHH, risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

• Complete planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-implicated tasks
• Carry out mechanical fitting, repairs and inspections on marine systems and equipment
• Identify and resolve system defects to ensure operational readiness
• Follow health and safety legislation and safe systems of work
• Suggest improvements to enhance productivity and performance
