Job summary

The Royal Navy invites applications for a Naval Overseer role based in Glasgow. This on-site position offers hands-on technical oversight of ship construction and trials, with opportunities to participate in sea trials and direct defect resolution.

You will engage with MOD and industry partners to ensure delivery to contract, safety and quality standards. Applicants must meet essential criteria, including eligibility for SC security clearance and board-level engineering registration.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering maritime projects and ship/offshore structures.
• Ability to provide technical advice and lead delivery of electrical/system outcomes.
• Incumbent should be able to obtain ENG1 seafarer medical fitness within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Lead professional engineering oversight of ship construction and trials in the shipyard.
• Coordinate on-site assurance and inspection activities to identify defects and risks.
• Provide leadership in applying engineering judgement and making clear recommendations.
• Lead or support key acceptance and assurance activities, including inspections, tests, trials and readiness events.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with industry partners, ship's staff and MOD stakeholders.
• Set a positive example for safety, compliance and professionalism in shipyard environments.
