Job summary

National Armaments Director Group is seeking a Naval Overseer – Power and Propulsion Lead in Glasgow to oversee ship construction and trials on a flagship defence programme. You will act as a senior MOD/National Armaments Director Group representative in the shipyard, ensuring delivery to contractual, technical and quality standards.

You will lead on-site assurance, manage defects, and support risk-based decision making while working closely with industry partners and MOD stakeholders to sustain

Qualifications

• Delivery of maritime projects or ship/ offshore structures construction/maintenance/operation.
• Experience providing technical advice and leading mechanical outcomes.
• Eligibility for Incorporated Engineer registration by 31 December 2027.

Responsibilities

• Lead professional engineering oversight of ship construction and trials.
• Coordinate and direct on-site assurance and inspection activities.
• Provide leadership in applying engineering judgement and local decision-making.
• Lead or support acceptance and assurance activities, including inspections and tests.
• Build relationships with industry partners, ship staff, and MOD stakeholders.
• Promote safe, compliant and professional working in shipyard environments.
