Job summary

Advantage Resourcing UK Ltd seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer in Inverclyde. You will be the shipyard technical authority and lead for electrical, automation and navigation systems on vessel projects.

Responsibilities include governance, design reviews, and liaising with Class/Flag authorities and major vendors. A strong background in marine electrical systems and regulatory compliance is essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical/Marine Electrical or related discipline.
  • Significant senior shipyard/marine experience.
  • Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems and standards.
  • Ability to review electrical schematics and vendor docs.

Responsibilities

  • Own electrical engineering strategy, standards and governance for the shipyard electrical function.
  • Review and approve outsourced electrical designs for safety, buildability, and production readiness.
  • Lead electrical input to design gates, maturity, constructability and production readiness reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with Class rules, Flag State, SOLAS, IMO and IEC marine standards.
  • Act as primary technical interface with Class, Flag, client reps, design houses and major vendors.
  • Review SLDs, load balance, cable schedules, layouts and interface control documents.
