Job summary

Navis Consulting is partnering with a global cruise sector organisation to hire an experienced Naval Architect for their Southampton shipbuilding team. The role focuses on concept development for prototype vessels, plan approval, design development, and verification across Newbuild projects and in-service vessels.

You will collaborate with shipyards, classification societies, suppliers and internal teams to ensure compliance with contractual, statutory and technical requirements, while

Qualifications

• Degree in Naval Architecture or closely related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or demonstrable progress towards CEng.
• Experience in the maritime or shipbuilding industry.

Responsibilities

• Provide Naval Architecture expertise across Newbuild & In-Service Vessels.
• Undertake plan approval, design review and technical verification of drawings, calculations, specifications, and documentation.
• Review shipyard design development, model testing and technical analysis.
• Support vessel design, construction, commissioning, sea trials, delivery, dry-docking and warranty activities.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, classification and company technical requirements.
• Develop and review ship specifications, technical standards and engineering requirements.
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues with robust solutions.
• Support evaluation and integration of new technologies and improvements.
• Contribute to energy efficiency, environmental performance and vessel upgrades.

Education

M.Sc., M.Eng. or B.Eng. in Naval Architecture

Chartered Engineer status or progress towards CEng

Professional experience in maritime/shipbuilding
