The role of Apprentice Data Technician forms part of the Newham Apprenticeship Scheme and provides an exciting opportunity to develop a career in data and digital services within the Council. As an Apprentice Data Technician, you will join a dedicated team responsible for collecting, managing, analysing, and reporting data that supports decision-making and helps improve services for residents.

During your apprenticeship, you will develop technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills while gaining experience in areas such as data management, data quality, reporting, and the use of digital tools and systems. Whilst based within a specific service area, you will be expected to work flexibly and collaborate with colleagues across different teams to support organisational objectives and deliver positive outcomes for Newham residents.

As an apprentice at Newham you will receive:

• Quality training, to include up to one day a week formal training
• Two years fixed-term contract with Newham Council

About You

We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work as part of a team.

To be successful as an Apprentice, you must have great time management skills and be willing to fit into the existing team structure. Outstanding Apprentices are those who respond well to criticism, build good relationships with colleagues, and ultimately make a positive lasting impression.

To successfully complete the Apprenticeship, not only must you meet the performance standards required, but you will also need meet the off-the-job learning requirements.

If you don’t already have GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent you may need to complete Functional Skills training in Maths and English as part of your apprenticeship.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Attending all classes
• Learning and developing practical skills,
• Participating in classes and workshops on and offsite,
• Observing all employee processes and procedures,
• Completing tests and assignments
• Delivering presentations to colleagues and other stakeholders.

You should be well-organised, flexible, and willing to assist wherever possible.
