Job summary

Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking a Learning & Development Apprentice to support the Safety, Wellbeing and Development service. You will work on a range of learning activities, including coaching, digital skills, health and wellbeing, and staff development.

A weekly day on the apprenticeship and collaboration with the coordinator are essential. You will develop IT and data skills, create learning content, manage records, and assist with events and logistics while maintaining

Qualifications

  • Must have or be willing to complete Level 2 Maths and English.
  • Will complete Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship over two years.
  • Spend one day each week on the apprenticeship.
  • Work closely with the apprenticeship coordinator and college assessor.

About the Team

The Safety, Wellbeing and Development service supports council staff and managers with learning and development, personal and organisational development and health, safety and wellbeing. As a Learning & Development Apprentice will work collaboratively as part of a wider team to support the various areas of the Safety, Wellbeing and Development service.

About the Role

The role includes supporting a range of learning and development activities, alongside coaching and mentoring, digital skills, health, safety and wellbeing, staff engagement and management development.

As a Learning and Development Apprentice, you will:

  • Confidently use a range of IT packages and systems.
  • Create PowerPoint slides.
  • Record financial information.
  • Capture and analyse data.
  • Maintain learning records in a Learning Management System.
  • Create eLearning content.
  • Produce and maintain accurate records and documents, including emails, letters and digital files.
  • Handle confidential information in line with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in person, by telephone, in writing and through digital platforms, responding to learning related requests and queries.
  • Manage your time and priorities effectively to meet deadlines, while managing colleagues’ expectations positively and setting a good example in the workplace.
  • Coordinate resources, including equipment and training facilities.
  • Organise meetings and events.
  • Record notes and action logs where needed.
  • Manage logistics for trainers and learners.
  • Show initiative in developing your own skills and behaviours while supporting others to develop theirs.
  • Adapt effectively to changing priorities in your own work and across the wider organisation.

You must have, or be willing to complete, a Level 2 qualification in Maths and English and will complete a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship over a period of two years. You will spend one day each week working on your apprenticeship and will work closely with the apprenticeship coordinator and college assessor.

About You

  • Skilled in the use of IT packages and systems to produce emails and letters, create PowerPoint slides, update and review databases, record information and provide accurate data analysis.
  • Able to produce accurate records and documents including emails, digital files, reports and confidential information.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, whether face to face, on the telephone, in writing or on digital platforms, using the most appropriate channel to communicate effectively.
  • Able to manage priorities and time to successfully meet deadlines and positively manage the expectations of colleagues at all levels.
  • Experience coordinating resources and logistics, including equipment and training facilities, organising meetings and events, and recording notes and action logs.
  • Takes initiative to develop own and others’ skills and behaviours.
  • Above all, you will have a flexible attitude and mindset and be prepared to support your colleagues in all areas of the business.
