Job summary

Bodycote in Coventry is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor/Technologist to lead our NADCAP accredited metallurgical lab. You will oversee daily lab operations, drive quality control, and develop staff while performing advanced metallographic assessments, hardness testing, and process verification.

The role requires a formal metallurgy qualification and hands-on experience with gaseous/ion nitriding, vacuum brazing, calibration and pyrometry.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in metallurgy or related scientific discipline.
• Experience with gaseous nitriding and ion nitriding is required.
• Knowledge of vacuum brazing and/or metal joining is preferred.
• Knowledge of Calibration and Pyrometry is essential.
• Subject Matter Expert in metallurgical testing.
• NADCAP or UKAS ISO 17025 laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the inspection team.
• Train and continuously develop the inspection team.
• Perform metallographic microstructure assessments.
• Perform hardness and other inspections.
• Oversee subcontract test house purchases and incoming verification.
• Manage the Calibration Schedule.
• Interpret customer specifications / drawings, write and/or approve technical data cards and inspection instructions.
• Perform contract reviews.
• Raise/Approve Certificates of Conformity and customer documents (e.g., FAIRs, MVA, Concessions, PCRs).
• Assist with RCCA.
• Internal and external communications.
