Job summary

Select Engineering Limited in Wolverhampton is seeking a Metallurgical QC Inspector to perform rigorous materials testing and inspection in line with engineering drawings and standards.

You will operate preparation equipment, conduct weld inspections (visual/ultrasonic/Radiographic), and support cross-functional investigations while adhering to IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and health & safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering, science or welding field.
• Experience using bandsaws, abrasive cutters, grinding, polishing, etching.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience with materials testing equipment (optical microscope, hardness, tensile, composition, FTIR, OES, DSC).
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Use metallurgical and mechanical preparation equipment to assess components according to specifications.
• Carry out routine quality control testing for EDU, Battery and Frame Assembly.
• Perform weld inspections and radiographic/ultrasonic analysis.
• Support investigations of product quality issues with cross-functional teams.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and safety procedures.
• Follow 5S and lab procedures and assist with additional tasks as directed.
