Job summary

New College Pontefract is recruiting a dedicated music tutor to plan and deliver instrumental sessions, and to assess and feed back on student progress and skills. You will develop strategies for both individual and group playing, explore good practice, and use music to support personal and social development while maintaining safeguarding standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver instrumental sessions and activities.
• Provide feedback and give advice on student performance and skills.
• Develop and discuss strategies for both individual and team play.
• Research good practice of innovative and successful teaching.
• Advise students on how to keep up a positive mental attitude and discipline, inspiring confidence and self-belief.
• Work with students to use music as a means of personal and social development.
• Act as a role model, gaining the trust and respect of the people you work with.
• Ensure students train to a high level of health and safety at all times.
• Communicate with the Head of School, Teachers and other trust staff.
• Adhere to Trust policies and procedures in relation to safeguarding and health and safety requirements.
• To observe at all times confidentiality appropriate to the post and to work within Trust guidelines of Data Protection.
• Perform other duties as assigned by your line manager.
