Job summary

Southampton City Council’s Museums, Art Gallery and Heritage Service invites applications for an Exhibitions and Collections Assistant (Full Time) to support delivering exhibitions, displays and collections activity across the city’s venues.

You will assist with planning, preparation, installation, documentation, and day-to-day care of objects, working with curators and venue teams to create audience-focused displays and inclusive visitor experiences.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in exhibitions, collections and audience engagement.
• Prior experience in at least one of these areas is preferred.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confidence handling information and objects with inclusive, high-quality visitor experiences.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of exhibitions, displays and collections activity.
• Assist with exhibition planning, preparation, installation, documentation, object movement and environmental monitoring.
• Collaborate with curators, exhibitions colleagues, learning, marketing and venue teams to create audience-focused displays and engagement activity.
