Job summary

Southampton City Council’s Museums, Art Gallery and Heritage Service invites applications for a Part Time Exhibitions and Collections Assistant (0.8 FTE, 4 days a week). You will assist with planning, installation and documentation of exhibitions, and care for collections across the Museums, Art Gallery and heritage sites.

Qualifications

Strong interest in collections, exhibitions and audience engagement.
Experience in at least one of these areas.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Commitment to inclusive, accessible, high-quality visitor experiences.

Responsibilities

Support delivery of exhibitions, displays and collections activity.
Assist with exhibition planning, preparation, installation and documentation.
Move objects, monitor environment and care for day-to-day collections.
Collaborate with curators, learning, marketing and venue teams to create audience-focused displays.
Support access to collections via talks, tours, digital content and volunteer involvement.
