Job summary

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust is seeking a Maintenance Shift Technician to join the in-house team. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance across hospital plant and systems, including boiler safety and out-of-hours support.

Rotation is 2 on-3 off, 2 on-2 off, 3 on-2 off with days and nights, 37.5 hours per week. You will work under supervision, with scope to supervise contractors and train apprentices while upholding Trust safety standards.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds in Electrical and/or Mechanical Services Level 3 or NVQ Level 3.
• Experience in a multi-skilled maintenance position, preferably in healthcare.
• Competent Person roles: LV CP (HTM 06), Medical Gases CP (HTM 02), HVAC CP (HTM 03).
• Experience as shift technician in a complex environment like healthcare.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Respond to emergencies such as fire alarms, heating failures, etc.
• Physically fit for lifting and carrying; strong customer service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Organise and prioritise day-to-day duties for safe, efficient operation of plant.
• Diagnose and repair faults in engineering, electrical and plumbing installations and equipment.
• Pass faults to Estates Manager/Officer/Team Leader as appropriate and respond to out-of-hours issues.
• Prioritise emergency and non-emergency calls to ensure safety of staff, patients and visitors.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive work across the site.
• Maintain records for major repairs and logbooks and document works orders.
• Liaise with external contractors and suppliers; supervise contractors out of hours.
• Be part of shift rota (2 on, 3 off; 2 on, 2 off; 3 on, 2 off).
• Provide training and supervision to maintenance assistants and apprentices; perform other duties as required.
