Job summary

Ritz Recruitment Ltd is seeking a proactive Maintenance Technician/Handyman to join a busy student accommodation in Reading RG1. This hands-on role covers general repairs, including plumbing, decorating, and joinery, with a focus on delivering an outstanding living experience for residents.

You will respond promptly to maintenance requests, work independently, and help with reactive and planned maintenance while keeping records up to date and ensuring health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven maintenance/handyman/trade experience.
• Strong practical skills across general maintenance disciplines.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Reliable and self-motivated with ownership of work.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests.

Maintenance Technician/Handyman - Reading RG1

£17pj + hol pay, (equivalent to £34K per annum) Tools provided, No CSCS Card required,

We are looking for a proactive multi skilled Maintenance Operative/Handyman to join a busy student accommodation. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering an outstanding living experience by ensuring all maintenance and repair requests within the accommodation are handled efficiently and effectively.

This is a hands-on position where no two days are the same - perfect for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests via internal systems
• Carry out general repairs, including plumbing, decorating, joinery
• Support both reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities
• Conduct regular inspections of rooms and communal areas
• Identify and address maintenance issues and health & safety risks
• Support record-keeping for maintenance logs, inspections, and compliance
• Deliver a professional and approachable service to residents
• Communicate clearly and effectively across teams and with residents
