Job summary

Adept Resourcing is seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer based in Sheffield, working days only to support manufacturing operations.

The role covers both mechanical and electrical maintenance, with responsibility for preventive and reactive work, SOP updates, and safety compliance. You will troubleshoot diverse systems, manage spares, and contribute to Lean initiatives and overall equipment uptime.

Qualifications

• Engineering apprenticeship completed with ONC/HNC in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment with mechanical and electrical maintenance.
• Knowledge of 18th edition wiring regulations.
• Experience with both preventive and reactive maintenance; ability to review SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Maintain tools, parts inventory and procurement.
• Monitor KPIs such as MTTR and MTBF.
• Ensure safety standards compliance.

Job description

Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer, Sheffield, days only

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for equipment and facilities.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and provide timely repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and equipment; manage procurement as needed.
• Monitor and improve equipment performance using KPIs such as MTTR (Mean time to repair) and MTBF(Mean time between failures)
• Collaborate with production, safety, and engineering teams to support operational goals.
• Manage maintenance budgets and prepare reports for management review.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment uptime and reduce costs.
• Oversee facilities maintenance including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and utilities (as applicable).
• Responsible for the recording of all work undertaken including analysis of trends key parts stock
• To carry out or organise general repairs/oversee routine property plant maintenance
• Facilitate / support Lean Manufacturing and operational Excellence implementation

Required skills:

• Recognised engineering apprenticeship and ONC / HNC (or equivalent) in electrical/mechanical engineering
• Demonstrable proven experience in a manufacturing environment in both mechanical and electrical maintenance
• 18th edition wiring regulations
• Experience doing both total preventative and reactive maintenanceCompetence to review existing SOP'S and develop new ones.
• Experienced in carrying out Risk Assessments and utilising SSW's.
• Willingness and capability to learn develop and adapt.
• Excellent customer service skills, ensuring positive interactions with internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills
• A Team player with good inter-personnel skills
• Lean or 6 sigma qualification (desirable)
