Job summary

KIMS Hospital in Maidstone invites applications for an Imaging Assistant to support the Imaging Team across Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine and cross‑sectional imaging.

This full-time role (40 hours per week) combines administrative and clinical duties, assisting in ultrasound procedures, sample handling, and supporting radiologists; you will work with a caring multi-disciplinary team and benefit from staff parking and wellbeing facilities.

Qualifications

• Have NVQ level 2 in health and social care or equivalent.
• Have a basic standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy skills.
• Have previously worked in a care environment.
• Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional boundaries at all times.
• Have knowledge of the radiology workflow (including knowledge of RIS, PACS and Compucare).

Responsibilities

• Providing both administrative and clinical support within the Imaging Department.
• Assist and provide support within Ultrasound, ensuring preparation and after care of patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Assist the Radiologist with Ultrasound guided Fine Needle Aspirations (FNA’s). Ensuring that the equipment is set up correctly, collecting the sample in accordance to local policy and appropriate management of the sample to pathology for testing.
• Assist the Breast Radiologist in undertaking biopsy & aspiration procedures. Ensuring that the equipment is set up correctly, collecting the biopsy sample in accordance to local policy and appropriate management of the sample to pathology for testing.
• Promote independence and encourage the patient to undertake all tasks within their capabilities, with their assistance
