Job summary

Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Imaging Support Worker to join the Diagnostic Imaging team in Bath. You will combine hands-on patient care with administrative and technical tasks, supporting radiographers, radiologists and colleagues to deliver high-quality imaging services.

The role involves assisting with imaging examinations, equipment preparation, RIS/PACS support, and day-to-day department operations, with a flexible shift pattern 08:00–20:00, including

Qualifications

• GCSE English Language and Maths minimum grade C/4 or equivalent.
• Completion of a Care Certificate (or willingness to work towards this).
• Experience and ability to perform peripheral cannulation.
• Healthcare/Science related Level 3 qualification.
• Level 3 qualification (A-Levels/BTEC/T Levels and Level 3 NVQ’s).

Responsibilities

• Identify and screen patients and escalate concerns.
• Assist with patient transfers, positioning and manual handling.
• Support vulnerable patients and those with additional needs.
• Prepare examination rooms and equipment for procedures.
• Assist with aseptic techniques and instrument handling.
• Check and maintain emergency equipment.
• Decontaminate equipment after procedures.
• Cannulate where trained and authorised.
• Prepare PPE and patient handling equipment.
• Record observations when trained.
• Support accurate patient pathway documentation.
• Perform QA and daily equipment checks.
• Identify and report faults or non-conformities.
• Move and prepare mobile imaging equipment and coils.
• Support students and new staff.
