Job summary

Chime Housing is seeking a hands-on Multi-Skilled Operative (Responsive Repairs) based on-site at Watford. The role focuses on delivering high-quality repairs across plumbing, carpentry or plastering, with competency in a second trade and the ability to take on two additional trades as needed.

You will participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota and work flexibly in line with agile delivery principles to improve homes and communities. A full driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Must specialise in one core trade Plumbing, Carpentry or Plastering and be highly competent in a second trade from the list.
• Able to undertake at least two further trades to a good standard (Bricklaying, Painting & Decorating, Groundwork/ Fencing).
• Hold a full clean driving licence and be DBS checked as required.

Responsibilities

• Identify cost-effective solutions to ensure repairs are completed to a high standard.
• Liaise with schedulers to organise jobs and maximise working time.
• Work in accordance with policies and procedures for safe working in customers' homes and public areas.
• Follow Chime Housing processes when undertaking all work.

To be considered, you must specialise in one core trade Plumbing, Carpentry or Plastering and be highly competent in a second trade from the list. In addition, you should be able to undertake at least two further trades to a good standard, bringing flexibility, skill and problem‑solving to every task. These trades include Bricklaying, Painting & Decorating and Groundwork/ Fencing.

What’s the role?

Key Accountabilities:

• Identify the right and cost‑effective solutions to ensure repairs are completed to a high standard.
• You will liaise with to organise jobs and maximise your working time.
• You will work in accordance with our policies and procedures relating to safe working in our customers’ homes and public areas.
• You will follow the processes Chime Housing requires when undertaking all work.

What are we looking for?

• You will be able to fault find and accurately diagnose the repairs needed; decide the most efficient and effective value for money and arrange materials where needed.
• You will have a City and Guilds in a relevant skill or equivalent.
• You must be able to work with minimum supervision.
• You must be competent in using an electronic personal digital assistant device to receive and record work.
• Hold a full clean driving licence.
• Willingness to maintain a satisfactory basic DBS check
• Employer pension contribution of up to 11%
