Job summary

RG Setsquare in Canterbury is seeking a versatile Multi-Skilled Operative to perform maintenance across plumbing, carpentry, plastering, tiling and decorating in social housing. The role is based on a 42.5-hour week and requires delivering high-quality repairs in residents' homes.

You will work on responsive repairs, manage workloads independently, ensure safety standards, and document work using handheld devices. A valid UK driving licence and DBS clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Experience across multiple trades (carpentry, plumbing, etc.).
• Full UK driving licence (over 21, clean record).
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Carry out responsive repairs in social housing properties, both occupied and void.
• Repair or replace skirting boards, doors, handles, locks and hinges.
• Install and adjust kitchen units and worktops.
• Patch plastering, wall tiling, painting and decorating.
• Identify and fix minor plumbing issues (leaks, dripping taps, blocked sinks).
• Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicle.
• Accurately record work using handheld devices or job sheets.
• Deliver excellent customer service while respecting residents' homes.

Role Overview

We're looking for a skilled and versatile Multi-Skilled Operative to join a busy responsive repairs contract. You'll deliver high-quality maintenance across multiple trades, including plumbing, carpentry, plastering, tiling, and decorating, ensuring residents' homes, Social Housing remain safe and functional.

Key Duties

• Carry out responsive repairs in occupied and void social housing properties

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience across multiple trades
• Full UK driving licence (over 21, held for 3+ months, <6 points)
• Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
• Understanding of health & safety regulations
• DBS/security check clearance required
