Midland Heart is seeking experienced Multi-Trade Operatives with a strong plumbing background to join our In-House Maintenance Team and maintain over 35,000 homes across the Midlands.
You will work across occupied and empty properties, diagnosing and completing a broad range of specialist repairs, including aids and adaptations, with a focus on right-first-time workmanship. You’ll be supported by quality tools and a comprehensive benefits package.
Are you a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in getting the job done right first time? Midland Heart has an exciting opportunity for experienced tradespeople to join our growing In-House Maintenance Team. We are looking for experienced Multi-Trade Operatives with a strong plumbing background to help maintain and improve over 35,000 homes across the Midlands. If you're looking for stable, permanent employment, excellent benefits, quality tools and equipment, and the opportunity to make a genuine difference to people's lives, we'd love to hear from you. No two days are the same. You'll work across occupied and empty homes, solving problems, completing quality repairs and helping customers feel proud of where they live. On average, our Multi-Trade Operatives complete around 5–6 jobs each day, although this will vary depending on the type and complexity of the work. We trust our operatives to manage their workload, make decisions on site and deliver a quality service that's right first time.
We're also proud to have been named in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work list within the Big Organisations category.
As a Multi-Trade Operative, you'll play an important role in ensuring our 35,000 homes are places that people love to live in. Working across both occupied and empty properties, you'll use your plumbing expertise alongside your wider multi-trade skills to diagnose and complete a broad range of specialist repairs and projects, including aids and adaptations.
Depending on your wider skills, your work could include:
You’ll take ownership of the work you’re completing, aiming to resolve repairs right first time wherever possible and delivering a high standard of workmanship for our tenants.
You’ll be an experienced tradesperson with plumbing as your primary trade, complemented by practical skills in carpentry, plastering or other relevant trades. You’ll be confident diagnosing repairs and completing work to a high standard, while having a sound understanding of site safety and safe working practices. As you'll be working in people's homes, how you work is just as important as the repair itself. You’ll communicate clearly with our tenants, treat their homes with respect, work safely and tidily, and leave them confident that the job has been completed properly.
If you hold a relevant trade qualification, please make sure this is highlighted on your CV when applying.
We're one team working together for our tenants. We're a large, ambitious housing organisation providing people with an affordable place to call home. We value people from all walks of life; we're committed to developing our people. Whether you're looking to broaden your trade skills, become a specialist operative, develop into supervisory roles, or generally develop your leadership skills, Midland Heart can support your career journey. We expect a lot from our people, but in return you'll find a supportive and rewarding workplace where great people thrive.
We're proud to be a Disability Confident Employer. Please feel free to contact us if you'd like to discuss any adjustments you may need to support you through our recruitment process.
