Job summary

Fortem are recruiting for a 6-month fixed-term Multi Skilled Trade to join our Repairs and Maintenance team, covering social housing properties across Taunton, Yeovil and surrounding areas. The role welcomes applicants with carpentry or plumbing skills, or a broad multi-trade background, and offers a work van, fuel card, and tools.

Core hours are Mon-Fri 8.00am-4.30pm; travel is required. A driving licence and DBS check are needed.

Qualifications

• NVQ/City & Guilds in Carpentry or Plumbing, or equivalent
• Full UK driving licence (max 5 points) and no bans
• Must pass basic DBS check
• Social Housing experience is desirable

Responsibilities

• Complete carpentry and basic plumbing repairs as per the specification
• Advise supervisor when other trades are required
• Work with other operatives to complete projects
• Record and submit accurate data using business systems/devices
• Provide excellent customer service to tenants and clients
• Arrange purchase of materials as needed for planned works
• Comply with safeguarding policy and H&S standards
• Follow company road risk policies and procedures
• Use PDA to update progress daily

We have a new opportunity to join our Fortem Repairs and Maintenance team for 6 months on a fixed term contract at Stonewater Housing Society as a Multi Skilled TradeYou can be an all round handy person or a trade which uses either core Carpentry skills, or Plumbing skills and a range of other Multi trade skills which can include, Tiling, Flooring, Locks and Windows etc.The Multi Trade will be responsible for most aspects of property maintenance and repairs to Social Housing Properties covering a patch across Taunton, Yeovil and Surrounding areas in the South West so travel is essential.Core Hours are Monday-Friday 8.00am-4.30pm - Work Van, Fuel card, Power Tools provided!

Our Services

Stonewater Housing is one of our long term contracts. We look after over 7,500 houses in 4 different areas of the South-West, from Taunton and Yeovil, over to Bristol and Swindon and down to Salisbury and Bournemouth. We currently deliver Repairs & Maintenance, Voids, Capital Works and an Electrical Service program.We are currently rated as 4.5 on Glassdoor and 93% of staff would recommend to a friend!

Duties & Responsibilities

• Completing either Full carpentry and basic plumbing repairs work / or Full Plumbing with basic Carpentry for all social housing properties as per the specification, working in a timely and productive manner with specific turnaround deadlines.
• Advising Supervisor in a timely manner when other trades are required
• Working in partnership with other operatives to complete projects.
• Recording and submitting accurate data using relevant business systems electronic devices.
• Affording excellent customer service to client representatives and tenants.
• Arranging purchase of materials required to deliver the works in a planned and efficient manner.
• Comply with safeguarding policy and H&S standards at all times.
• Operating within the company’s occupational road risk policies and procedures
• Using a PDA smart phone to correspond daily with colleagues to update progress and completion information for your allocated work.

What you will need

• NVQ/City & Guilds qualifications or equivalent in Carpentry or Plumbing/ OR Qualified by experience will be considered
• Full UK driving license (Max 5 points) and no recent driving bans
• Must be able to pass basic DBS check
• Desirable but not essential:
• Social Housing experience
