Job summary

18 Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Operative to join a social housing maintenance team covering Liverpool and surrounding areas. The role focuses on void properties, with responsibilities across carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating to bring homes back to lettable standard.

The ideal candidate will be an all-round tradesperson, able to work independently, adhere to safety standards, and maintain records of work and materials.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Operative / Multi-Trader in social housing, property maintenance or construction.
• Strong practical skills across carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and painting & decorating.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload; good health and safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance works within social housing properties.
• Complete void property refurbishments to a high standard.
• Undertake carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, painting and decorating tasks.
• Fit kitchens, bathrooms, doors, skirting boards, architraves and locks.
• Carry out basic repairs across multiple trades as required.
• Diagnose defects and determine effective repair solutions.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company standards.
• Maintain accurate records of completed works and materials used.
• Provide excellent customer service when working in occupied properties.

About the Role

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Multi-Skilled Operative to join their social housing maintenance team covering Liverpool and surrounding areas.

This is a permanent position working predominantly within void properties, carrying out a wide range of repair, refurbishment, and maintenance works to bring homes back up to a lettable standard. The successful candidate will be an all-round tradesperson with strong capabilities across carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, and decorating.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance works within social housing properties.
• Complete void property refurbishments to a high standard.
• Undertake all aspects of:
  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • Plastering repairs
  • Wall and floor tiling
  • Painting and decorating
• Fit kitchens, bathrooms, doors, skirting boards, architraves, and locks.
• Carry out basic repairs across multiple trades as required.
• Diagnose defects and determine the most effective repair solutions.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards.
• Maintain accurate records of completed works and materials used.
• Provide excellent customer service when working within occupied properties where required.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Operative / Multi-Trader within social housing, property maintenance, or construction.
• Strong practical skills across:
  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • Plastering
  • Tiling
  • Painting & Decorating
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Full UK Driving Licence (Essential).

Desirable

• Experience working within social housing maintenance and void properties.
• Relevant trade qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Additional trade skills such as flooring, roofing, UPVC, or kitchen fitting.
