Job Title: Multi Skilled Operative

Salary: up to £39,427.50 per annum, plus company van & fuel card

Hours: 42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday - Friday)

We are the largest provider of repairs, maintenance, and regeneration services across the UK. Mears offers tailored rapid-response and planned maintenance services through partnerships with over 70 local authorities, Arm’s Length Management Organisations, and Housing Associations.

A Multi Skilled Operative at our Crawley branch will support residents with responsive repairs across our property portfolio, working on a planned route. You will be part of a local team performing high-standard multi-trade repairs and refurbishment activities, delivering excellent customer service while meeting safety, quality, and cost standards. You should have a certified core trade, and be capable of supporting additional trade activities to complete repair and refurbishment works on time and to a high standard, following standard operating procedures. You will take ownership of construction, fault finding, and maintenance repairs, aiming for first-time completion within budget and time constraints.

• Carry out reactive repairs in unoccupied properties
• Perform duties including but not limited to hanging doors, skirting, architraves, fixing windows/doors, lock changes, repairing worktops, kitchen units, fitting new bathrooms, general plumbing repairs, painting and decorating, plastering, etc.
• Provide high levels of customer care at all times

Role Criteria:

• Core Trade in Plumbing or Carpentry
• Experience in Painting & decorating, Tiling
• Experience working within social housing
• Good timekeeping
• UK full driving license

All roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work in the UK. Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship.

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be over 21, have held your license for more than 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points.

All roles are subject to relevant DBS/Security checks before employment begins.
