Job summary

Synergi Recruitment has a permanent multi-skilled maintenance engineer role with a mechanical bias in a Hertfordshire-based food manufacturing site. The role involves preventative and reactive maintenance on a range of production and packaging equipment, aiming to minimise downtime and keep machinery operating efficiently.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in food manufacturing or FMCG maintenance.
• Strong fault-finding and repair skills.
• Welding/fabrication experience (MIG/TIG preferred).
• Electrical fault-finding, PLCs, sensors and VSDs knowledge.
• Experience with automated production or packaging machinery.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the site.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on production machinery.
• Work on conveyors, gearboxes, motors, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Carry out welding, fabrication and mechanical repairs where required.
• Maintain and repair packaging machinery, ovens, fryers and other production equipment.
• Support continuous improvement projects to improve equipment reliability.
• Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime.

Shifts: 4 on 4 off, Days and Nights, 7 to 7

The Role

Synergi Recruitment is recruiting for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established food manufacturing business based in Hertfordshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer to join a busy production environment, working on a range of manufacturing and packaging equipment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, minimising downtime and ensuring production machinery operates efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the site.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on production machinery.
• Work on conveyors, gearboxes, motors, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Carry out welding, fabrication and mechanical repairs where required.
• Maintain and repair packaging machinery, ovens, fryers and other production equipment.

Skills and Experience Required

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Previous maintenance engineering experience within food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Experience with welding and fabrication, ideally MIG/TIG.
• Good understanding of electrical fault-finding, PLCs, sensors and variable speed drives.
• Experience working on automated production or packaging machinery.
• Ability to work independently within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
