Job summary
English Provender Company is seeking a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer in Thatcham, Berkshire. The role covers electrical and mechanical maintenance across busy production lines, responding to breakdowns and implementing preventative maintenance to keep line performance high.
You will support continuous improvement initiatives, install and commission new equipment, and keep CMMS records up to date while training production staff on operation and basic maintenance tasks.
Qualifications
- Multi-skilled maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Engineering qualification - City & Guilds or equivalent.
- Food manufacturing experience is desirable.
- PLC fault-finding experience is desirable.
- Experience with motors, drives and automated production machinery.
- Previous experience in the UK manufacturing sector.
Responsibilities
- General maintenance across manufacturing equipment.
- Electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance routines.
- Installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Supporting project work and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintaining engineering workshop equipment and services.
- Conducting regular factory inspections and reporting defects.
- Training production staff on equipment operation and basic maintenance.
- Maintaining maintenance records and CMMS documentation.

Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer Location: Thatcham, Berkshire Salary: £52000 Shift: Continentals days and nights - 12 hours 6-6 Job Role of the Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established food manufacturing business with a strong reputation across the UK retail and catering sectors. This fast-paced production site manufactures mayonnaise, pasta sauces, chutneys, salad dressings and pastes for major retailers including Tesco, Lidl, Asda and Morrisons. The business has invested heavily into its manufacturing operation, operating multiple bottling lines, cooking vessels and automated production equipment. This role is ideal for an engineer looking to work within a busy and supportive engineering team where no two days are the same. You will be responsible for both electrical and mechanical maintenance, responding to breakdowns, completing planned preventative maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across site machinery.
- Multi-skilled maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment
- Engineering qualification - minimum City & Guilds qualification
