Job summary

Cranswick Gourmet Sausage, Hull is seeking motivated, multi-skilled engineers to join the team on a 4on/4off night shift (18:00-06:00). The role focuses on maximizing efficiencies, minimizing downtime, and commissioning new equipment on site.

You will resolve engineering issues, participate in preventative maintenance, and support apprentices while ensuring health and food safety procedures are followed.

Qualifications

• Experience in chilled food FMCG is preferred.
• Ideally qualified to HNC/NVQ Level 3 in engineering.
• Electrical biased or fully multi skilled.
• Health and safety qualifications desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain machinery and equipment to optimum standards with minimal downtime.
• Respond rapidly to breakdowns and complete known jobs efficiently.
• Contribute to preventative maintenance and start-ups in production areas.
• Liaise with management and production teams to improve engineering activities.
• Support apprentices and uphold food hygiene and safety procedures.

Job description

At Cranswick Gourmet Sausage, Hull we are looking for motivated, multi-skilled engineers with extensive experience working within food manufacturing environments to join our team at ‘the Gourmet Sausage’ to work 4on/4off shift

The role will focus on maximizing efficiencies by ensuring manufacturing downtime is minimized by continuously striving to improve the equipment to meet the operational needs of the business. As an experienced multi-skilled engineer, you will resolve engineering issues and will be involved in the commissioning and implementation of new equipment at site.

Shift: 4on 4off, 18:00-06:00, A Shift Nights

The main duties of the role include:

• Maintain machinery and equipment to optimum standards safely with minimum downtime
• Provide a rapid response to breakdown situations and utilise time effectively to ensure known jobs are completed in a succinct timeframe
• Ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained
• Ensure the efficient usage of spare parts, consumables, and equipment
• Ensure that all health and safety and food hygiene procedures are always adhered to
• Maintain open and constructive lines of communication with the Production Department
• Liaise and elevate with all levels of management across all functions relating to engineering activities.
• Any administrative duties as required in the fulfilment of the engineering plan
• To decrease time lost due to breakdowns
• Satisfactory completion of the Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule
• Risk assesses all jobs, to reduce the risk to health and safety issues in your area
• Responsible for and the ongoing support of daily ‘start ups’ in the production area
• Support the learning and development of the apprentices
• Be conversant with four strategic pillars (QVIP). Champion this within the department and the wider site
• Adhere to all rules, processes, and procedures in relation to the work

The successful candidate will:

• Have experience of chilled food FMCG (preferred)
• Have worked within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Be qualified to HNC/NVQ Level 3 in any engineering discipline
• Be Electrically biased or fully multi skilled
• Be health and safety conscience (qualifications are desirable)
• Preferably have worked with Handtmann, Reiser and Proseal machines
