Job summary

Consortium Professional Recruitment are partnering with a Hull-based food manufacturer to recruit a Multi-Skilled Engineer on permanent night shifts (18:00–06:00, 4 on/4 off). The role focuses on maintaining and repairing production machinery, fault-finding and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

The ideal candidate will have an engineering qualification (HNC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent), and a proven multi-skilled background with mechanical and electrical fault-finding abilities.

Qualifications

• HNC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering.
• Multi-skilled engineering background with mechanical and electrical fault-finding.
• Ideally 17th Edition or 18th Edition.
• Experience maintaining and repairing equipment in fast-paced manufacturing.
• Proactive, safety-conscious with strong problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues.
• Experience in FMCG is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining, fault-finding and repairing production machinery to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Responding to breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing improvements to minimise recurring issues.
• Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and supporting equipment commissioning.
• Collaborating with production colleagues to support start-ups and maintain food safety standards.
• Supporting apprentices and promoting safe working practices and continuous improvement.
• Contributing to improvements to reduce downtime and improve overall production efficiency.

Shift: 4 on, 4 off | 6pm to 6am | Permanent Nights

Consortium Professional Recruitment are pleased to be partnering with an established food manufacturer in Hull to recruit a Multi-Skilled Engineer (Nights). Working as part of a dedicated engineering team, you'll help maximise equipment reliability, minimise downtime and support continuous improvement across the site.

The Opportunity

• Maintaining, fault-finding and repairing production machinery to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operations.
• Responding effectively to breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing improvements to minimise recurring issues.
• Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM), supporting equipment commissioning and contributing to engineering improvement projects.
• Working collaboratively with production colleagues to support daily start-ups, maintain high standards of food safety and ensure effective communication across departments.
• Supporting apprentices, sharing technical knowledge and promoting safe working practices, good housekeeping and continuous improvement.
• Your work will directly contribute to improved production efficiency, reduced downtime and the smooth running of a busy manufacturing operation.

About You: We're looking for someone who can bring:

• An HNC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
• Must have a multi-skilled engineering background, with confidence in mechanical and electrical fault-finding.
• Ideally have 17th Edition or 18th Edition
• Experience maintaining and repairing equipment within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• A proactive, safety-conscious approach, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues.
• Any Experience within FMCG would be advantageous, but a pro-active attitude and sound multi-skilled experience is critical
