Job summary

Alexander Steele are recruiting a Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias) in Melton Mowbray to join a proactive manufacturing engineering team. You will maintain production equipment, minimise downtime and drive continuous improvement on site.

The role requires electrical bias, hands-on fault-finding, and experience with PPM and maintenance records. Excellent career progression and a modern, well-invested environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Apprentice-trained engineer with manufacturing experience.
• Electrical bias with fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with preventive maintenance (PPM) and breakdown maintenance.
• Ability to work 4 on/4 off shifts including days and nights.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive and planned preventive maintenance (PPM).
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability projects.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new machinery.
• Conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
• Maintain maintenance records and CMMS updates accurately.
• Work with production and engineering teams to optimise performance.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, and food safety standards.

Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias)

Salary: up to £49,000 per annum + Great Benefits

Hours: 4 on 4 off, Days/Nights - 6:00 to 6:00

Alexander Steele are delighted to be working with a hugely successful food manufacturing business who are seeking a Multi Skilled Engineer to join their engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-invested manufacturing site where you'll be responsible for maintaining production equipment, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The business offers a proactive engineering environment with ongoing investment in machinery, technology, and site development.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out both reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability projects.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
• Conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
• Complete maintenance records and CMMS updates accurately.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to optimise performance.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, food safety, and quality standards.

Requirements

• Apprentice-trained Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Electrician, or equivalent manufacturing engineering experience.
• Multi-skilled engineering background within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience of PPM and breakdown maintenance.
• Good understanding of health & safety requirements.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
