Job summary

Andrews Recruitment Group is recruiting a hands‑on Multi Skilled Engineer for an established food manufacturing business in Ashford, Kent. This role focuses on ensuring production machinery runs reliably, diagnosing faults quickly and minimising downtime in a busy site.

With a bias toward electrical work (roughly 60:40), you will perform planned and reactive maintenance, support continuous improvement and can work independently on shifts when required, ensuring safety and reliability across all

Qualifications

• Completed UK engineering apprenticeship.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role.
• 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Strong electrical fault-finding with solid mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience diagnosing PLC-controlled machinery and electrical control systems.
• Knowledge of motors, drives, conveyors, pneumatics and industrial production equipment.
• MEWP/IPAF licence.
• Confidence working independently and managing breakdowns under production pressure.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across production machinery and equipment.
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Fault finding on PLC-controlled equipment, SCADA systems, electrical power and control circuits.
• Maintaining conveyors, mechanical drives, motors, pneumatics and associated production equipment.
• Supporting maintenance activities across packing lines, cold stores, refrigeration systems, cooling towers and wastewater treatment equipment.
• Working closely with production supervisors and operators to maintain efficient plant operations.
• Identifying recurring equipment faults and implementing improvements to increase reliability.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, waste and energy consumption.
• Completing maintenance documentation, compliance checks and engineering records.
• Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with health and safety procedures.
• Taking ownership of engineering performance when working independently on shift.

Location: Ashford, Kent

Salary: £58,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday | Rotating Morning, Afternoon and Night shifts

Andrews Recruitment Group is recruiting an experienced Multi Skilled Engineer for an established food manufacturing business in Ashford, Kent.

This is a hands‑on maintenance engineering position within a busy production environment where equipment reliability, fast fault diagnosis and minimising downtime are essential.

We are looking for an electrically biased Multi Skilled Engineer with a strong mechanical background, ideally working to a 60:40 electrical/mechanical split.

You’ll be responsible for keeping production machinery running efficiently, responding to breakdowns, carrying out preventative maintenance and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

At times, you may be the sole engineer on shift, so the ability to work independently, diagnose faults confidently and take ownership of engineering issues is important.
