Job summary

The Wonderfield Group is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer for Taiko Acton. The role covers preventative and predictive maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems, with a focus on improving OEE and reducing downtime.

You will read electrical/mechanical drawings, manage on-site contractors, and work across departments in a fast-paced food production setting. 4-on 4-off shifts (days/nights) apply, including freezer areas and high-precision environments.

Qualifications

• Multi-skilled engineer with strong mechanical expertise and electrical knowledge.
• Experience within FMCG or food manufacturing environments.
• Confident fault-finder with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
• Able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Strong communicator with great teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable managing contractors and working across departments.
• Health & Safety awareness and basic Food Hygiene awareness.
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
• Flexible to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (days and nights).
• Willing to work in varied environments (freezer areas, boiler rooms, at height).

Responsibilities

• Deliver strong plant performance through planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Maintain and improve OEE, MTTR, and overall equipment reliability.
• Carry out routine inspections and ensure minimal downtime across site.
• Maintain machinery including motors, conveyors, pumps, and gearboxes.
• Support electrical systems, including panels, controls, and sensors.
• Work with PLCs and HMIs to troubleshoot and enhance automation.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and food safety standards.
• Conduct audits, inspections and safely remove defective equipment where needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems (e.g. Shire/Pirana).
• Work collaboratively across shifts and manage on-site contractors.
• Drive continuous improvement and reduce waste (time, materials, resources).

Contract: Full Time

Salary: £24 per hour
