Job summary

Elate Staffing Solutions Ltd in Eckington is seeking a Heavy / Light Goods Vehicle Mechanic to join a busy transport and maintenance team. The role covers servicing, maintenance, repairs and inspections on a range of HGVs, LGVs and operational vehicles.

You will diagnose faults, work across a varied fleet and support vehicle compliance and safety. This permanent, full-time position offers 37 hours per week and an hourly pay band of £14.36 to £19.47 with a tool allowance.

Qualifications

• Vehicle mechanic experience with City & Guilds Part I & II Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• Minimum Category B driving licence.
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to vehicle safety.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• A willingness to undertake further training and professional development.
• Experience working on refuse collection vehicles, street cleansing vehicles or grounds maintenance plant would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, repairs and inspections on a range of HGVs, LGVs and operational vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and ensure vehicles are maintained to a high standard.
• Work across a varied fleet, gaining experience with specialist and operational vehicles.
• Support vehicle compliance and safety requirements.
• Undertake ongoing training and development, with opportunities to work towards MOT Tester and Category C / Driver CPC qualifications.
