Job summary

SUEZ is seeking a team-oriented plant operator to join the site team in Lancaster. You will operate loading shovels, FLTs and tele-handlers, perform safety checks and assist with waste unloading while maintaining site standards and procedures.

The role requires experience with plant equipment and a safety-conscious approach; training can be provided if needed. Flexibility to cover holidays is appreciated, and previous waste industry experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience operating loading shovels, FLT and tele-handlers is preferred.
• CPCS/CITB/NPORS certification or equivalent is ideal; training can be provided.
• Willingness to cover holiday and sickness as required.
• Experience in waste industry or high-volume production is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate loading shovels, FLT and tele-handlers across the site.
• Carry out pre-operational safety checks and daily maintenance.
• Direct customers to disposal areas and assist with off-loading.
• Ensure waste deliveries comply with site licence and paperwork.

Job description

What will I be doing?

You will carry out the operation of loading shovels, FLT & tele-handlers across the site, loading a variety of different types of vehicles such as curtain sided vehicles, shipping containers and bulk haulage walking floors.

The role will involve:

• To safely and efficiently operate fixed machinery, such as bailing machines.
• Maintaining the completion of preoperational safety and operator checks.
• Frequently complete daily checks and maintenance of mobile plant, fixed plant and equipment used at the facility.
• Ensuring that all deliveries of waste are in compliance with the site licence and any associated paperwork is completed.
• To carry out inspections on incoming product(s) in line with the site waste acceptance criteria and report any non-compliant loads.
• To direct customers vehicles to the various disposal areas and assist them with off-loading as required.
• Ensuring the compliance with all material export requirements such as photo’s, paperwork and container seals.
• Assisting sampling operatives with collection of output samples.
• Ensure the site is kept clean and tidy at all times and to comply fully with all company and local procedures.
• Assisting production staff with their duties during end of shift clean-ups and plant downtime.
• To contribute to lean and 5’s activities across the site in order to maintain a clean, organised and efficient workplace.
• To work as part of a team to maintain an efficient and cost-effective operation, ensuring that SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees.
• Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job role.

What are the requirements?

We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who will be expected to join the current site team to ensure site operations exceed the standards required.

You will require:

• In order to make an immediate impact, we are ideally seeking an experienced plant operator, who holds the relevant CITB/CPCS/NPORS certification or equivalent, but for the right candidate training can be given.
• A flexible approach to work will be advantageous as you will be expected to cover holiday and sick days if required.
• A safety conscious approach with the desire to develop & embrace change to promote continuous improvement.
• Previous experience within the waste industry or other high-volume production processes is an advantage, but not a necessity.
