Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Mouth Care Trainer on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis to deliver the Supervised Tooth Brushing Scheme across Northumberland and North Tyneside. You will train school staff, support families and education professionals, and help implement evidence‑based mouth care education within schools and community settings.

Qualifications

• Registration with General Dental Council (GDC) is essential.
• National Dental Nurse Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Certificate in Oral Health Education is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Supervised Tooth Brushing Scheme across schools in Northumberland and North Tyneside.
• Provide training, education and practical support to school staff.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with schools, local authorities and partners.
• Coordinate ordering, management and distribution of supervised toothbrushing resources.
• Deliver oral health promotion activities and evidence-based advice to children and families.
• Maintain accurate records of activity and collect, analyse and report data.
• Prepare and present activity/outcome information for contract review meetings.
• Contribute to mouth care education and training across healthcare and community settings.
• Cross-cover within the Mouth Care Team during leave or increased service demand.
• Travel across the Northumbria Healthcare footprint to deliver training and support.
