Job Title: Motorsports Sportscar Data Analyst, Nottingham

Job Details

This hybrid role requires reporting to Concord, NC three times per week, with flexibility for weekend race events.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Motorsports Sportscar Data Analyst to apply data science and modeling techniques to develop race strategy tools, aiding pre-race planning and live decision-making during races.

Key Responsibilities

1. Enhance existing AI/ML models for sportscar applications, refining Python code and reimagining models as needed.
2. Develop platforms for Monte Carlo simulations.
3. Create and refine tire degradation models for accurate predictions.
4. Design visualizations to effectively communicate insights, collaborating with IT and software teams.
5. Verify and improve race strategy tools and models, working with IMSA and WEC teams.
6. Analyze vehicle pace, track migration, traffic, and fuel strategies.
7. Predict race and session pace variations to inform strategies.
8. Collaborate across GM teams to develop and support race strategy tools.
9. Co-develop race strategy software with data science and IT teams.
10. Apply analysis techniques across different racing series for process validation and model refinement.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related.
• 5+ years in top-level motorsports series (NASCAR, IMSA, F1, IndyCar, WEC, etc.), with 2+ years developing strategy tools.
• Knowledge of motorsports race strategy and analysis during live events.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar.
• Understanding of AI/ML modeling techniques.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to travel 10% within the US.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Experience in tire modeling and simulation workflows.
• Knowledge of machine learning libraries and big data tools (Hadoop, Spark, SQL, NoSQL).
