Job Description

We are seeking a Motorsports Sportscar Data Analyst to apply data science and modeling techniques to develop and refine race strategy tools, facilitating insightful pre-race planning and real-time decision making during live race events.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine AI/ML models for motorsports applications, including updating existing Python codebases and creating new models.
  • Create platforms for running Monte Carlo simulations and analyzing tire degradation models for accurate predictions.
  • Design visualizations to effectively communicate insights, collaborating with IT and software teams for implementation.
  • Verify and improve race strategy tools, collaborating with IMSA and WEC teams for each race event.
  • Analyze vehicle pace, track migration, traffic, energy strategies, and tire and fuel effects to inform race tactics.
  • Work with GM motorsports teams to develop race strategy software and apply analysis techniques across different racing series.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years in top-level motorsports series (e.g., NASCAR, IMSA, F1, IndyCar, WEC), with at least 2 years developing or utilizing strategy tools.
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML modeling techniques and big data tools.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience with tire modeling, simulation workflows, and machine learning libraries.

This role may include relocation benefits and requires travel within the US up to 10% of the time.
