Job Description

We are seeking a Motorsports Sportscar Data Analyst to apply data science and modeling techniques to develop and refine race strategy tools, facilitating insightful pre-race planning and real-time decision making during live race events.

Responsibilities
  • Refine and develop AI/ML models for motorsports applications, including Python codebases and simulation platforms.
  • Create tire degradation models and develop visualization tools to communicate insights effectively.
  • Verify and improve race strategy tools, collaborating with IMSA and WEC teams for implementation and insights.
  • Analyze vehicle pace, track migration, traffic, and energy strategies to inform race tactics.
  • Work with cross-functional teams within GM and its motorsports divisions to develop and support strategy tools.
  • Contribute to the development of race strategy software and adapt analysis techniques across different racing series.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in top-level motorsports series, with 2+ years developing or using strategy tools.
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML modeling techniques and industry applications.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
  • Experience with tire modeling, simulation workflows, and machine learning libraries.
  • Knowledge of big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
