Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. The successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC on a full-time basis.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Processing Engineer to join the Aero Innovation team within the Motorsports Aerodynamic Department. Your primary responsibility will be to develop complex data pipelines and data-processing systems that enhance our aerodynamics development activities for both motorsport and high-performance production vehicles. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will design, develop, and optimize state-of-the-art solutions to address technical challenges, contributing significantly to our competitiveness.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect, design, build, and maintain scalable, efficient data pipelines to process large volumes of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and other teams to integrate data from various platforms and systems (e.g., on-premises and cloud databases, data lakes, APIs, third-party vendors).
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and quality through automated validation and monitoring processes.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in data workflows to ensure fast and reliable processing.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Data Scientists, Product Managers, Engineers, Aerodynamicists) to translate business requirements into data solutions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code adhering to best practices.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, specifications, and presentations to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data processing, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and Java.
  • Experience with data processing tools/platforms like Kafka, Flink, Databricks.
  • Knowledge of distributed computing management systems such as SLURM, LSF.
  • Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., SQL, MongoDB).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to optimize data workflows.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields.
  • Experience in the motorsports industry.
  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and security practices.
  • Experience with HPC architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation and Data Acquisition systems.
  • Skills in developing live streaming data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with aerodynamic testing and best practices.
