This role is categorized as onsite, requiring the successful candidate to report to Concord, NC on a full-time basis.

The Role

GM Motorsports supports racing in multiple series including NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA, WEC, and Formula 1. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled CAD Engineer for our elite team. In this role, you will design and develop racecar components and systems, covering the entire product development process from initial concept to production. Responsibilities include designing parts and systems, optimizing with finite-element analysis, and participating in regular design reviews. You will also provide support to end users or customers after product delivery as needed.

What You’ll Need (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience designing parts for automotive, motorsports, aerospace, or similar industries.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA or 3DX) and FEA tools (HyperMesh, Abaqus).
  • Strong understanding of part design, materials (composites and metals), and rapid prototyping technology.
  • Solid and surface modeling skills.
  • Innovative mindset and continuous improvement focus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Quick troubleshooting abilities.
  • Passion for motorsports and team contribution.
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and aerodynamics.
  • This position may be eligible for relocation benefits.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
