Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC on a full-time basis.

The Role

GM Motorsports supports racing in multiple series including NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA, WEC, and Formula 1. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled CAD Engineer for our elite team. In this role, you will design and develop racecar components and systems, covering the entire product development cycle from initial concept to production. Responsibilities include designing parts and systems, optimizing designs using finite-element analysis, and participating in regular design reviews. You will also provide support to end users or customers post-delivery as needed.

  • Utilize your Catia experience and analytical skills for parts design.
  • Collaborate with race program team members with a client-oriented focus.
  • Share knowledge and learn in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What You’ll Need (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience designing parts for automotive, motorsports, aerospace, or similar industries.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA or 3DX) and FEA tools (HyperMesh, Abaqus).
  • Strong understanding of part design, composite and metal alloys, and rapid prototyping technology.
  • Solid and surface modeling skills.
  • Continuous pursuit of innovation and improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot quickly and efficiently.
  • Passion for motorsports and a desire to contribute to team success.
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and aerodynamics.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields.
