Job summary

Automation Experts Ltd is seeking a technically minded engineer to join their team as a Technical Sales Engineer. The role combines engineering solutions with customer-facing sales, travelling across the UK and developing opportunities from enquiry to quotation.

You will engage with engineers, buyers and end users, understand applications, prepare quotations and support projects with your technical insight.

Qualifications

• Degree required in Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical Engineering, Physics, Software Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in technical sales or applications engineering.
• Background in automation, motors, drives, robotics or packaging machinery is advantageous.
• Must have strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own customer visit diary, travelling across the UK approximately three days per week.
• Identify and develop opportunities within automation, machine building and industrial equipment.
• Understand customer applications, technical requirements and commercial needs.
• Recommend suitable motion-control products and engineering solutions.
• Qualify opportunities and proactively progress them through to quotation and project development.
• Prepare quotations, lead-time estimates and customer follow-ups.
• Provide technical support by phone, email, online meetings and customer visits.
• Build relationships with engineers, machine builders, buyers and end users.
• Work with internal sales, marketing and technical teams to develop opportunities.
• Maintain accurate customer records and report on project progress.
• Attend exhibitions, demonstrations and technical meetings.
