Job summary

Autotech Recruit Ltd in St Albans is seeking a Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join a busy, well-established workshop.

You will service and repair cars and light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, conduct MOT tests where qualified, diagnose faults, and maintain workshop documentation while benefiting from a supportive team and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification preferred for the role.
• Level 2 technicians will be considered.
• Experience in automotive workshop environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on cars and light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.
• Conduct MOT tests where qualified.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Complete timing belt and wet belt replacements.
• Perform vehicle health checks and safety inspections.
• Maintain accurate workshop documentation.
• Ensure all work meets industry standards.

Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester
Location: St Albans
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 6:00pm

Looking for a fresh challenge in a busy, well-established workshop? We’re working with a respected automotive employer in the St Albans area that is looking to expand its team with three new hires. Whether you’re an experienced Vehicle Technician or hold a valid MOT Tester licence, this could be an excellent opportunity to join a supportive business that values quality workmanship and invests in its people.

The Role As a Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on cars and light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes
• Conduct MOT tests where qualified
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults
• Complete timing belt and wet belt replacements
• Perform vehicle health checks and safety inspections
• Maintain accurate workshop documentation
• Ensure all work meets industry and company standards
• Work collaboratively within a friendly and professional workshop team

What We’re Looking For

• Level 3 qualification preferred
• Strong Level 2 Technicians will also be considered
• Previous workshop experience within the automotive industry
• MOT Tester licence beneficial but not essential
• Good diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
• Full UK driving licence
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
