Job summary

Octane Recruitment is seeking an MOT Tester for a busy independent workshop in Crawley. The role covers MOT testing to DVSA standards, servicing and light repairs, and maintaining accurate records in a busy workshop environment.

Salary starts at £35,000 with scope for a higher salary for strong MOT Tester or mechanic experience; overtime and a stable Mon-Fri schedule with some Saturdays are available. Immediate start preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an MOT Tester
• Valid MOT testing status
• Full UK driving licence
• Own tools and use of personal tools
• Right to work in the UK

Responsibilities

• Carry out MOT tests in DVSA standards
• Complete vehicle servicing and general mechanical repairs
• Support the workshop with MOT and mechanical work as workload allows
• Maintain accurate MOT testing and workshop records
• Complete work safely and efficiently in a busy workshop
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and vehicle safety

Job Details:

Location: Crawley

Salary: £35,000 basic higher salary considered for strong MOT Tester / Mechanic experience

Bonus: Available for completing more than 10 additional MOTs per week

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am5:30pm. 1 in 3 Saturdays, normally 8:30am12:30pm

Overtime: Available, including additional Saturday hours

MOT Tester Role

• Carry out MOT tests in accordance with DVSA standards
• Complete vehicle servicing and general mechanical repairs
• Support the workshop with MOT and mechanical work depending on workload
• Maintain accurate MOT testing and workshop records
• Complete work safely and efficiently within a busy workshop
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, vehicle safety and housekeeping

MOT Tester Requirements

• Previous experience working as an MOT Tester essential
• Valid MOT testing status essential
• Strong servicing and general mechanical repair skills
• Ability to carry out MOT tests confidently and independently
• Full UK Driving Licence essential
• Own tools essential
• Right to work in the UK
• Stronger mechanical experience may be reflected in the salary offered
