As a MongoDB Database Administrator, you will work in project teams designing, building, and maintaining MongoDB databases and infrastructure to provide strong business solutions. You will be involved from design and build to supporting both non-production and production environments. We promote a learning culture at NBS, encouraging ongoing development and skill enhancement in technologies. You will also have opportunities to join our communities to share ideas and collaborate with other engineers.

Note: If you are outside of Swindon or London, you will need to attend the respective office once a month for workshops, collaboration, and meetings.

What you’ll be doing

You will work within delivery teams, collaborating to build optimal solutions using your technical leadership and SME expertise. You will advise, build systems, troubleshoot, and optimize MongoDB solutions, providing guidance to less experienced engineers and ensuring solutions meet team objectives.

On-call work may be required occasionally.

About you

You should have a proven track record in designing, building, and implementing MongoDB solutions, with in-depth knowledge of:

• Linux operating system concepts
• MongoDB OpsManager for backups and deployment
• MongoDB architecture, replication, and sharding
• Handling JSON data, exporting/importing documents
• Troubleshooting MongoDB and performance tuning
• Working across multiple projects and teams
• Sharing expertise with emerging talent
• Building relationships with technical and business stakeholders
• Quickly learning new technologies

Additionally, knowledge and experience in at least three of the following areas are desirable:

• Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible)
• LDAP integration
• Red Hat OpenShift
• Kafka
• Network and infrastructure security
• Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Regulatory environments such as PCI and GDPR
• Working with third parties/suppliers
