As a MongoDB Database Administrator, you will work in project teams designing, building, and maintaining MongoDB databases and infrastructure to deliver strong business solutions. You will be involved at all stages, from design and build to supporting both non-production and production environments. We promote a learning culture at NBS, encouraging ongoing development and skill enhancement in relevant technologies. You will also have the opportunity to join our communities to share ideas and collaborate with other professional engineers.

For this role, you will spend at least two days per week, or if part-time, 40% of your working time, based at either our London, Swindon, Northampton, or Bournemouth offices. What you’ll be doing

You will work within delivery teams, collaborating to build the best solutions for Nationwide using your technical leadership and SME knowledge. You will provide advice, build systems, troubleshoot, and ensure solutions within the MongoDB space are solid. You will guide less experienced engineers and help create fit-for-purpose designs to meet team objectives.

You may be required to work on-call occasionally.

About you

You should have a proven track record in delivering technical solutions involving MongoDB, with in-depth knowledge and experience in areas such as:

• Linux operating system concepts
• Configuring and supporting MongoDB OpsManager for backups and deployments
• MongoDB architecture, replication, and sharding
• Working with JSON data structures, exporting/importing documents
• Troubleshooting, performance tuning, and index optimization within MongoDB
• Working across multiple projects and collaborating within a team
• Sharing expertise with emerging talent
• Building relationships with technical and business stakeholders
• Quickly learning new technologies

Knowledge and experience in at least three of the following areas are desirable:

• Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible)
• LDAP integration
• Red Hat OpenShift
• Kafka
• Network and infrastructure security
• Agile methodologies and Scrum
• Regulatory environments (PCI, GDPR)
• Working with third parties/suppliers
