Job summary

Aberdeenshire Council is seeking an ICT Support Technician to provide customer-focused first and second line support for ICT systems across the council, covering desktop software and hardware, systems and applications software, server and client operating systems, data and voice communications, networking and ICT security.

The post operates on a rota from 07:30 to 18:00 Monday to Thursday and 07:30 to 17:00 Friday.

Qualifications

• Willing to study for IT SVQ Level 3 and progress to Tech Op C grade.
• PVG Scheme or willingness to undergo PVG Scheme update checks.
• Minimum one reference from current or most recent employer or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide first and second line ICT support for desktop software/hardware, systems and applications.
• Support server and client operating systems, data and voice communications, networking and ICT security.
• Ensure ICT Service Operations deliver against SLAs and local policies; contribute to continuous improvement.

Provide customer focused first and second level ICT support for ICT systems across the council, to include: desktop software and hardware; systems and applications software; server and client operating systems; data and voice communications; networking and ICT security, ensuring the delivery of all ICT Service Operations activities are in line with agreed service levels and local policies.

This post participates in a rota to cover the business hours of 07:30 - 18:00 Monday-Thursday, 07:30-17:00 Friday.

The appointee will be required to study for, gain the necessary practical experience and achieve the IT Professional SVQ Level 3 qualification. Upon achieving SVQ3, the postholder will progress to Tech Op C grade.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Fixed Term for a period not exceeding 24 months.

Requirements

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
