Job summary

Aberdeen City Council is seeking a committed professional to lead, manage and supervise high-quality person-centred care across multiple settings, including home-based care. The post involves developing a team and service to promote positive outcomes for service users and carers, with a focus on dignity, respect and independent living.

The role requires professional qualification in social work, OT, nursing or a relevant subject, with PVG and professional registration.

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in Social Work, OT, Nursing or other relevant subject is required.
  • Registration with the relevant professional body is necessary and PVG registration is required.
  • SVQ Level 4 management qualification or equivalent is expected; PDA in supervision or progressing towards it is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and supervise a high standard of person-centred care and support.
  • Promote good outcomes for service users and their carers in various settings.
  • Assess, plan, review, and maintain accurate records including risk assessments and support plans.
  • Communicate effectively and work in partnership with service users, staff, carers, families and professionals.
  • Lead and motivate a team, providing supervision and support to staff.
  • Work autonomously, with accountability while escalating matters to senior management when needed.

Job Purpose

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour)) The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job Purpose / About The Role

Throughout Aberdeen city you will lead, manage and supervise a high standard of person centred care and support for service users in a range of accommodation settings, including their own homes. You will lead and develop a team and service to promote good outcomes for service users and their carers.

Full time permanent post available. 1 x 35.00 Vacancy based at the following location - Coronation Court, Coronation Road, Peterculter, Aberdeen, AB14 0SL

The Post Holder Needs To Hold As a Minimum
  • Professional qualification in Social Work, OT, Nursing or other relevant subject
  • Qualification required by SSSC or ability and willingness to work towards as role required
  • SVQ Level 4 management qualification or equivalent as role required
  • PDA in supervision or willingness to work towards as role required
  • Registration with relevant professional body
  • PVG registration

  • A flexible and creative approach in order to manage resources effectively
  • The ability to effectively use a range of IT packages including the use of Microsoft Office
  • The ability to challenge and improve practice
  • The ability to promote the safe moving and handling of both people and objects
