Job summary

Brook Street in Colchester is recruiting a Housing Estates Officer to visit Ministry of Defence properties, monitor contractor work and ensure services meet standards. The role is office-based with on-site duties, requires a full UK driving licence and Basic DBS clearance.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence required.
• Physical fitness for visiting properties, including stairs.
• Willingness to shadow other officers before going on site independently.
• Basic DBS clearance required; processed by Brook Street.
• Experience in estate/property management is helpful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Visit Ministry of Defence properties to monitor contractor work and ensure standards are met.
• Check property work and escalate if standards aren’t met.
• Manage occupant monitoring for a portfolio including non-SFA/SSFA.
• Conduct handovers to ensure families receive the required level of service.
• Support stakeholder engagement activities (family or military events).
• Undertake assurance checks on service levels and supplier work quality.
• Handle level 2 complaints promptly and manage time reliefs within limits.
• Maintain allocated case workload to agreed standards.
• Support additional services (IRL/SONS/VOIDS) within delegation.
• Adhere to compliance and health & safety training requirements.
• Ensure safe lone-working practices when required.
